HipTV came to limelight in July 2007 when it was launched to be the platform to broadcast Hip Hop World Magazine but has since risen to become a music and entertainment channel.
On November 5, 2013, HipTV was launched on Multichoice's DSTV as a 24-hour channel with a target audience from over 40 countries in Africa.
Hip TV rose to fame through the yearly hip hop music award called HEADIES which many Nigerians considered as the biggest award in Nigeria.
Hip TV have many eye-catchy programs which made it stand out  such as ;

Soundcity

Soundcity is a 30 min TV program on NTA back then , due to the attention the channel drive gave it a chance to have its own channel launched in 2009.
